"Potatoes with a flavour"

Camille Debeuckelaere, married to Pharailde Cannaert, is a young farmer. The sand-loam soils in Staden are perfect to start cultivating new potatoes.

Passionate about potatoes, André Debeuckelaere starts a business with his wife Madeleine Spruytte. The ware potatoes are grubbed-up in the region of Staden. They sell them in their own shop as well as in many others all over the country.

Walter Debeuckelaere and Liliane Damman / Antoon Debeuckelaere and Ann Decommere take over their parents’ business in 1965. Antoon is in charge of transport while Walter takes care of the wholesale potatoes. At the Keyaert, where once the Keyaert Mill was situated, the family extends the facilities. The potatoes are traded all over Belgium. Walter also starts to explore the different varieties of potatoes destined for crisps production.

In 2001, Joost Debeuckelaere and Katrien Vandenbulcke inherit the company. Being part of the fourth generation with a heart for potatoes, Joost specialises in potatoes destined for the crisping industry. He distributes them in Belgium and surrounding countries.

Joost has a dream. After a long family history within the potato industry, consisting of cultivating potatoes, trading them and specialising in crisps potatoes, the time has come to take the next step. With bagfuls of knowledge about potatoes and family secretes dating back to Walter and André, Joost starts to produce his own artisan chips at the Keyaert.
